Salt Sculptures

After painting the morning away Grandma brought in reinforcements to keep us busy the rest of the afternoon!  Thank goodness because a sick girl isn't fun but a sick and bored girl is even less fun!  Grandma found something in the paper that morning called trifty tips for indoor winter fun - perfect, just what we needed!  One of the projects was salt sculptures and this is how you make it.
1. Mix together 4 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups water and 1 cup salt.  Sculpt the doughy mixture into shapes - animals flowers or whatever your imagination inspires.  We made snakes and a snowman and used cookie cutters to cut out other shapes!  Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.  Cool and paint with acrylic paint.  Turned out to be a very fun project for Chloe as she loved all the steps!  As I researched more later I found a receipe to make them sparkly which we will definately have to incorporate next time!
