Simple Things Sunday - Sliding Barn Doors

We have been talking about cutting a hole in the wall between the living room and the office for a few years now.  I was dragging my feet about it because I wasn't sure how it would look and I wanted to be able to close it off if the office got messy.  THEN I saw these sliding barn doors on Pinterest here and fell in love with the idea!  So we cut the hole, closed off the original door and hung these barn doors.  Now all we need to do is put the trim back up and get a light for above the doors!  We love how it turned out even though it was quite the process...
We bought the doors unfinished so we sanded them and then stained them.  The first stain we picked we didn't like how it turned out so we sanded them back down.  Then we stained them again with a different color.  I wanted the doors to appear somewhat rustic so we sanded them again lightly to give them that look.  We thought a clear coat would make them look nice but it made the doors too shiny so we had to sand once more to get the shine off.  Pretty much we are done sanding doors for awhile;)

Simple Things Sunday - St. Patty's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!  On Friday it was "GREEN" day at preschool so Chloe took this cute little green gift to her teacher, Mrs. Joan.  I found the idea HERE! It says Shamrocks are green and germs are gross, Happy St. Patty's Day to the Teacher I love the most!.  It was a huge hit at school!  Mrs. Joan said not only did she enjoy it and the poem, but that all of the kiddos were hand sanitizing all day;)  Perfect green gift with all of the colds going around here lately!  Yesterday our plan was to go to the St. Patty's Day parade but the weather was so icky that we didn't end up going.  Chloe still dressed up though and today we are doing this fun little Treasure Hunt!  Hope you all had a fun green day too!

Fairytale "Barbie Party"

This is what Chloe and I did yesterday...attended the 14th annual Fairytale "Barbie Party!"  It was a "Kids-Helping-Kids" Fundraiser at the Masonic Temple.  We took friends, Tami and Sami along with us.  The girls had SO MUCH FUN!  Two "barbies" were assigned to each table of little girls and they went to each station with them.  The stations included - cupcake eating, barbie coloring, make-up applying, dancing, fingernail painting, bracelet making and picture taking.  AND they even got to ride in a LIMO, which was my Chloe's favorite part;)  It was such a fun event/fundraiser for little girls and we will definately be attending again next year!  Check out the below picture of the whole crew!

3 friends and 3 babies!

This week I was able to see my three preschool besties - Addie, Natalie and Kyra.  Kyra was on a vacation so was able to come home for the week, which gave us the perfect opportunity to get together for drinks and dinner!  AND since she hadn't met the babies yet I was also able to see my three favorite little ones!!!  They have grown SOOO much and are all full of smiles!  I LOVE being their auntie!  What a great evening spent with my besties and the babies!
